The Debiopharm Inartis Challenge

“Who can change the world in which we live?”

The 2nd edition of the Debiopharm Inartis Challenge is open for applications

The Debiopharm Inartis Challenge aims to support innovative projects in the field of Healthcare that are targeting the physical and moral comfort of patients as well as their relationship with other patients, medical personnel and family members.

With a prize money of CHF50’000 and a 1st prize of CHF25’000, this competition is open to new innovative interdisciplinary projects (see the rules). Students, patients, patients’ associations, healthcare and medical professionals, IT specialists, architects, designers, nurses, pharmacists, engineers, even politicians are welcome to submit their project proposals.

The projects can be associated with different healthcare domains: Design, structure of patient rooms and hospital environment, treatment against nosocomial infections, teleconference technologies for patients, new features such as massaging beds for patients, or revision of some complicated rules imposed by insurance or care institutions.

Selection criteria

The applications should correspond to the following criteria:

1. Impact on the user (patients, caregivers, etc.)
2. Observed or proposed regional, national or international economic benefits
3. Novelty of the project
4. Induced cooperation with Academia and/or Industry
5. Relevance of the proposal according to the challenge

A Challenge in two stages

In May 2017 the jury will meet to select the best projects. Up to five teams will receive CHF5’000 to implement their project and submit it again to the jury a couple of months later, who will eventually determine the winner.

During this phase, the teams will have access to the office space of UniverCité and the network of Debiopharm Group & Fondation Inartis. In Autumn 2017 the winning team will receive CHF25’000 to help realize or commercialize their project.

  2. How does it innovate, and who benefits from that ?
  3. How does it differentiate from existing solutions ?
  4. Do you have hints that confirm the feasibility of your project : Prototypes, examples ?
  5. Who is the team behind this project ?
  6. Who are the skills required that you don’t have to realize this project ?
  7. How do you want to be involved with this project beyond the Challenge ?

The application deadline to submit your project is on May 4th, 2017 midnight.
